Dr. Garrett “G-money” Kuljian isn’t just a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT PT CSCS); he’s a lifelong student of movement and the human body. Known as “G-Money” in his field, his approach is all about achieving strength through movement and embodying the principle of “The Supple Dragon.” His journey began on the sports field and has evolved into a mission to help others unlock their physical potential.
G-Money’s passion for the human body ignited during his multi-sport athletic childhood. This passion deepened when he played soccer at Arcadia University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology. During these formative years, he became fascinated by human performance, particularly the body’s incredible ability to adapt and become stronger, more mobile, and resilient through physical challenges. Driven by this fascination, he pursued and received his doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Diego, CA.
However, G-Money believes his most valuable education comes from outside the classroom. He prides himself on the personal research he’s conducted on his own body and his commitment to practicing what he preaches. He’s observed a critical issue in healthcare: many professionals simply go through the motions without truly embodying the principles they advise. How often have you received nutrition advice from a doctor struggling with their own weight, or been given exercise instructions by a physical therapist with limited mobility and chronic pain?
G-Money experienced this disconnect firsthand. Despite his athletic background and aspirations, he was told by doctors and healthcare experts that his body, riddled with injuries from his athletic career – severe hip impingement, torn labrums in both hips, “abnormal” bone structure, persistent shoulder pain, and constant low back pain – would prevent him from pursuing his passions. Surgery and ceasing the activities he loved were the only solutions offered. This pivotal moment spurred G-Money into a deep dive of self-healing. He sought out the world’s leading practitioners, immersing himself in their strength training methodologies and unconventional mobility and flexibility practices, far beyond the scope of traditional physical therapy. He attended numerous international workshops and seminars, seeking the most effective and cutting-edge information available.
Through dedication and innovative techniques, G-Money achieved what doctors deemed impossible. He regained the ability to squat pain-free, achieving full depth, and is now progressing towards advanced mobility goals like mastering the splits – all without surgery! He understands that conventional medical advice often lacks the nuanced understanding that comes from living and breathing a movement-focused lifestyle.
G-Money’s mission is to bridge the gap between the fitness and performance worlds and traditional healthcare. His ultimate goal, reflected in his “G-Money” moniker, is to empower himself and others to become stronger, live pain-free, achieve optimal health, and become, in his words, “HARDER TO KILL.” He is committed to walking alongside his clients, continually refining his expertise and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Recognizing that we have only one body, G-Money is dedicated to helping individuals explore and achieve their fullest physical potential.
