Money Converter: European Commission’s Official Rates

This online Money Converter uses the European Commission’s official monthly accounting rates for the euro and other currencies. These rates, established by the Accounting Officer of the European Commission, comply with Article 19 of the Financial Regulation.

The European Commission utilizes these rates to calculate reimbursements for expenses, travel, and subsistence costs for external participants in Commission-requested meetings, interviews, and similar events.

This money converter also provides monthly currency conversion rates dating back to 1994 for general users. The rates reflect market rates from the second-to-last day of the preceding month. These are sourced from the European Central Bank or, when unavailable, from delegations or reliable sources close to that date.

InforEuro, the system behind this converter, offers rates for current and historical currencies, both within and outside the European Union. For each currency, you can access historical conversion rates against the euro (or the ecu before December 1998). These exchange rates are available electronically as downloadable files from March 1994 onwards.
