Sending and receiving money has never been easier, thanks to Apple Pay and Apple Cash. Whether you’re splitting a bill with friends, sending a gift to family, or paying someone back, Apple Pay offers a seamless and secure way to transfer funds directly from your iPhone, Apple Watch, or other Apple devices. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about sending money with Apple Pay, ensuring you can take full advantage of this convenient feature.
Sending Money via Messages App with Apple Cash
One of the quickest ways to Send Money With Apple Pay is directly through the Messages app. This method leverages Apple Cash, Apple’s digital cash service, to facilitate peer-to-peer payments within your conversations.
Using Your iPhone:
- Open Messages: Launch the Messages app on your iPhone and either select an existing conversation or start a new one with the recipient.
- Access Apple Cash: Tap the plus (+) icon located to the left of the message input field. Then, choose the Apple Cash icon.
- Enter Amount: Input the exact amount of money you wish to send to the recipient. Tap “Send” after entering the amount.
- Add a Comment (Optional): You have the option to add a brief comment or note that will be visible in the transaction history for both you and the receiver, making it easy to remember what the payment was for.
- Review and Send: Tap the “Send” button (upward arrow) to review your payment details.

- Toggle the Apple Cash slider off to disable using your Apple Cash balance.
- Select your preferred debit card from the available options.
- Insufficient Apple Cash Balance: If your Apple Cash balance doesn’t cover the full amount, you can seamlessly use a debit card to cover the remaining balance. Apple Pay will clearly display the amounts to be deducted from each payment method.
- Confirm Payment: Double-click the side button on your iPhone to initiate the payment. Authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode to securely complete the transaction.
