The robust 750W hub motor propels this Class 2-3 e-bike to 20 mph in just 8.4 seconds using throttle alone, and reaching 28 mph is effortless with any of the five pedal assist modes.

The hydroformed aluminum frame neatly houses a removable and lockable 614Wh battery, which can be charged separately from the bike, or left in place. Removing the battery also reduces the bike’s weight for easier transport. In our range testing, the Turris achieved 22.1 miles on throttle power while climbing over 1200 feet. While slightly less than the Aventon Level Step-Thru with its 28.4-mile range, it’s important to note that our range tests are conducted without any pedaling, so real-world range is expected to be significantly higher.

The larger diameter wheels and durable knobby tires of the Turris provide a smooth, vibration-damped ride with excellent traction. Despite its stability, testers found the bike to be agile and enjoyable to handle. While offering less adjustability than the Ride1Up 700-Series, the Turris’s geometry and quality touchpoints were well-received. Available in both step-thru (5’1″-6’2″) and step-over (5’6″-6’4″) frames, the step-thru model is particularly accessible, featuring backswept handlebars ideal for seniors or riders preferring a more relaxed posture.

Like other folding e-bikes, smaller wheels and short wheelbases can affect stability at speed. However, it’s easy to forget the XP 3.0 is a folding bike during normal use, making it highly recommended for a wide range of users, even those who may not frequently use its folding feature.

Its 52V electrical system and 1000W hub motor provide remarkable power and acceleration, especially considering its near 97-pound weight.

Ride1Up’s Multi-Class Speed System allows adjustable output for different terrains and regulations. Registering unlocks an off-road mode for even higher performance on private property, surpassing the power of models like the Super73 S2 in off-road mode.

Featuring 50mm rear and 120mm front suspension, the Revv 1 FS is significantly more comfortable than the hardtail Ride1up Revv 1. Upright handlebars and a comfortable seat enhance ride quality on rough terrain. Full fenders, lights, turn signals, and a horn add urban utility and a moped-like feel. The clear 3.5″ central display provides abundant ride data, day or night, a notable improvement over the smaller display of the Super73.

Assembly is simplified with a box that doubles as a support stand. Tools and instructions are included, along with an assembly video. The Turbo Levo Comp is a full-power all-mountain trail e-bike with 150mm rear and 160mm front travel, representing the best electric mountain bike for overall trail performance. The latest Turbo 2.2 motor system provides 90Nm of torque with a significantly refined feel compared to previous versions. Specialized has heavily invested in the full-power e-bike market, evident in the Levo’s ride quality and motor integration. While specs may appear similar to competitors, testers were consistently impressed by the Brose motor’s power delivery. At 2.98 kg, it’s slightly heavier than Shimano’s EP801, but this is negligible on a 51 lb, 3 oz bike. The Levo motor provides 5Nm more torque, but its modulation and responsiveness are the standout features. Testers unanimously praised the Levo’s ride quality as “more natural,” “more balanced,” and “more like a regular trail bike.”

Despite the inherent weight and power of full-power e-mountain bikes, the Levo’s integration masks its mass better than competitors. In range testing, it covered 33.1 miles on its 700Wh battery, less than the Canyon Spectral:ON with its 900Wh battery, but more than others in our test. Adjustable geometry and mixed wheels enhance customization. Adjustable headtube angle and bottom bracket height allow quick tailoring to different riding styles and terrains. Downhill performance ranked highest in our test, highlighting its geometry and handling over its electric assist. Power assist cuts out at 20mph, but downhill speeds typically exceed this. Lead tester Joshua Hutchens noted, “The low center of gravity and well-balanced kinematics on this bike give it the best handling.

While a top performer and our favorite electric mountain bike, the Levo Comp Alloy has minor drawbacks. SRAM Code R brakes are effective but lack the adjustability of Code RSC brakes found on the Santa Cruz Heckler. Despite e-bike-specific forks with stiffer steerer tubes being available, it uses a standard Fox 36 Rhythm fork. The base model display is a simple LED readout, while pricier versions have the impressive Mastermind TCU with customizable graphics and micro-tune options.

Overall, the Turbo Levo Comp is a clear winner and benchmark for full-power e-mountain bikes. It’s also the best value in a full suspension eBike, with only the Ari Wire Peak 2.0 being significantly cheaper but scoring lower overall.

Long-Term Thoughts: We own and constantly ride multiple Levos and are thrilled with the frame adjustability and ride quality, feeling Specialized leads in this segment. Warranty motor replacements have occurred, but motors are becoming quieter and more reliable. While TCU and motor issues have occurred, they were resolved quickly under warranty.

In range testing, its 708Wh battery powered our tester 30.1 miles with 5980 feet of climbing on a single charge. Aventon’s A100 motor delivers a class-leading 100 Nm of torque, impressing testers with its power output.

This aluminum 29’er features 130mm of non-adjustable coil-sprung front travel and agreeable (66.5/74.5) geometry. Offered in 4 sizes, the Ramblas is an affordable e-mountain bike for a wide range of riders (down to 5′ 1″). As a hardtail, the frame prioritizes efficiency over comfort on rough terrain, and the wheels are not tubeless-compatible, making it less ideal for highly technical or aggressive riding. However, its ample power, front and rear lights, and even a kickstand enhance its versatility. Tester Chris McNamara noted, “No other E-MTB so easily doubles as a daily commuter.” At 54 lbs, it’s only slightly lighter than the full-suspension Ari Wire Peak 2.0, but the motor effectively compensates for the weight. Most e-bikes offer a 20-30 mile range, influenced by battery size and motor power, rider weight, terrain, and assist levels. Rider pedaling significantly extends range. Batteries are measured in Watt-hours (Wh); higher Wh means more range but also more weight.

Motors range from 250W to 750W. Larger motors offer more torque and faster acceleration. Hub-drive motors in the wheel center are affordable and low-maintenance but less efficient and harder to repair. Mid-drive motors near the pedals are pricier but more efficient and balanced, using bike gears for optimal performance, common on higher-end e-bikes.

Pedal assist uses torque or cadence sensors. Torque sensors measure pedal force for intuitive, proportional power.
