Top OSRS Money Makers: Simple Methods to Boost Your RuneScape Wealth

Maintaining a healthy gold stack in Old School RuneScape (OSRS) can feel like a constant battle, especially when you’re focused on training skills and burning through resources. Many guides point to high-level, grind-heavy activities for making OSRS gold, but what about reliable methods that fit into a more relaxed playstyle? If you’re looking for consistent Osrs Money Makers that don’t require endless hours or super-high stats, you’ve come to the right place. This guide dives into some of the most effective and accessible methods I personally use to keep my coffers full and fund my RuneScape adventures. Forget the monotonous grind of Runecrafting – we’ll explore practical, enjoyable ways to generate OSRS gold that you can easily incorporate into your daily gameplay.

Farming Herbs: A Passive OSRS Gold Maker

Farming herbs is a cornerstone of passive income in OSRS. If you’re already engaging with the Farming skill, herb runs are an incredibly efficient way to generate consistent OSRS gold with minimal effort. I’ve detailed the benefits of herb farming previously, but let’s reiterate why it’s such a fantastic money maker.

The beauty of herb runs lies in their speed and low time commitment. Before logging off for the day, I prepare my inventory for a quick run. Here’s a glimpse of a typical herb run setup:

My routine involves completing a farm run just before logging off, making Trollheim my last stop. Upon logging back in, I immediately start with another farm run, beginning again at Trollheim. This double run approach maximizes efficiency. On average, this yields approximately 90 herbs across the two runs, translating to a profit of around 195k OSRS gold. While this might seem modest at first, the consistency is key. Doing this every play session steadily accumulates wealth. Over just ten days, this simple habit can net you over 2 million OSRS gold! Herb farming is a prime example of a low-effort, high-reward OSRS money maker.

Clue Scrolls: Fun and Potentially Lucrative OSRS Gold

If you’re looking for OSRS money makers that are both profitable and genuinely enjoyable, clue scrolls are hard to beat. For me, clue scrolls are a personal favorite. The thrill of the hunt and the potential for valuable rewards make them an engaging way to earn OSRS gold. Over time, the loot from clue scrolls really adds up. My clue scroll loot tab, filled with unique items and runes alone, is worth a substantial 70 million OSRS gold. And that’s not even accounting for the countless “junk” items that, when sold collectively, contribute significantly to your wealth.

My estimated earnings from clue scrolls are around 150 million OSRS gold, and I’m still on the hunt for those elusive ranger boots! Clue scrolls offer a fantastic blend of adventure and profit, making them a top-tier OSRS money maker for players who enjoy varied gameplay.

Barrows: Consistent OSRS Gold and Valuable Loot

Barrows is another excellent method for generating consistent OSRS gold, and it’s my second favorite activity after clue scrolls. To maximize profits, I waited until I completed the Morytania Hard Diary before seriously engaging with Barrows. This diary completion significantly increases the rune rewards from chests, making each run more lucrative.

Let’s look at a recent example of Barrows profits. Starting from chest 420 (where I received a Guthan’s Spear), I decided to track the loot from 100 chests, aiming to collect every possible item. Over these 100 chests (plus 7 Elite clues obtained during the runs), the accumulated loot demonstrates the consistent profitability of Barrows.

I average about 13 Barrows chests per hour – sometimes up to 15 when I’m focused, but 13 is a reliable average. At this rate, with consistent luck, Barrows yields around 1.5 million OSRS gold per hour, and that figure doesn’t even include the additional loot from Elite clues! Barrows provides a steady stream of OSRS gold and valuable items, solidifying its place as a highly effective money-making method.

Brewing Greenman’s Ale (m): Effortless AFK OSRS Gold

Brewing might seem unconventional, but it’s a surprisingly effective and incredibly low-effort OSRS money maker, especially after the introduction of Master clues. The target product is Greenman’s Ale (m), prized for its use in Master clues and its Herblore boosting properties.

The brewing process is remarkably AFK. While mature ale production isn’t guaranteed, you can significantly increase your chances by using “The Stuff,” purchased for 50 pieces of eight from Trouble Brewing. Earning 100 pieces of eight, enough for two doses of “The Stuff”, is a quick 5-minute task of filling water buckets in Trouble Brewing, followed by a 15-minute AFK period.

With “The Stuff,” you can supply two brewing locations: Keldagrim and Port Phasmatys. Here’s the simple brewing recipe for each location:

Brewing Recipe (Per Location):

  • 2 Buckets of water
  • 2 Barley malt
  • 1 “The Stuff”
  • 4 Clean harralander
  • 1 Pot of ale yeast

First, purchase “pot of ale yeast” from the NPC brewer for just 50gp:

Simply combine these ingredients at each brewery. Then, the fermentation process begins, taking anywhere from 12 hours to 4 days – completely hands-off. Each brewery yields 8 beers.

The profit potential is substantial for such minimal effort. Let’s look at a recent brewing example.

In two brewing rounds within a week, experimenting with pricing, I started with 24 Greenman’s Ale (m) (one batch failed). I sold 4 for 200k each, capitalizing on player desperation, and the rest at 130k each. This totaled 3.4 million OSRS gold in revenue.

The cost of ingredients? A mere 10k:
