PNC Money Market: Relationship Rates and Requirements

To earn a higher interest rate on your PNC Premiere Money Market account, you must qualify for a Relationship Rate. This involves linking your money market account to a qualifying PNC checking account and meeting specific transaction or direct deposit requirements.

There are three tiers of Relationship Rates available, each tied to a specific PNC checking account:

  • Performance Checking Relationship Rate: Link to a Performance Checking account or a Virtual Wallet® with Performance Spend.
  • Performance Select Checking Relationship Rate: Link to a Performance Select Checking account or a Virtual Wallet with Performance Select.
  • A Standard Rate applies if you don’t meet the requirements for a Relationship Rate.

Qualifying for a Pnc Money Market Relationship Rate

You can qualify for a Relationship Rate in one of three ways:

  • Transactions: Make at least five combined PIN or signature-based point-of-sale purchases (excluding cash advances) using your PNC Visa® Debit Card linked to your qualifying checking account or a linked PNC consumer Visa Credit Card.
  • Direct Deposits (Performance Spend/Checking): Receive at least $2,000 in qualifying direct deposits (or $1,000 for WorkPlace or Military Banking customers) into your linked Virtual Wallet with Performance Spend or Performance Checking account.
  • Direct Deposits (Performance Select/Checking): Receive at least $5,000 in qualifying direct deposits into your linked Virtual Wallet with Performance Select or Performance Select Checking account.

Important Considerations for Direct Deposits

A qualifying direct deposit is a recurring electronic payment from your employer or an external agency. Transfers between your own accounts, deposits made at a branch, ATM, online, via mobile device, or by mail do not count toward this requirement.

How Relationship Rates are Determined

PNC evaluates your eligibility for the Relationship Rate on the first of each month, based on your activity during the previous calendar month. Your account will earn either the Standard or Relationship Rate depending on whether you met the qualifying criteria.

Changes to Your Linked Checking Account

If you close your linked checking account, change its type, or unlink it from your Premiere Money Market account, you may lose your Relationship Rate. Rate changes may occur, reflecting the prevailing rates at the time of the change. Be sure to maintain your linked checking account and meet the monthly requirements to continue earning the higher Relationship Rate on your PNC Money Market account.
